In September 1974, Terry Pettijohn just finished his Ph.D. at Bowling Green State University, and wanted a faculty position at a college that was close and emphasized quality teaching. With his wife Bernie and his 4 month old son Terry II, he started his career at 91���� at Marion.

Students from Dr. Nikole Patson-Huffman’s spring semester Psychology 3371 – Language in the Mind course created short digital slideshows aimed at dispelling common myths about language.

91���� Marion senior psychology major, Kori Montgomery was recently awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded research fellowship this summer to conduct research at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), Columbus, OH.

91���� Marion invites the community to attend the 43rd Annual Norman Thomas Memorial Lecture, Thursday, April 16th, 12 p.m., in Maynard Hall, Guthery Community Room on the Marion campus. This year’s lecture features Ohio Student Association Organizer, Rachael Collyer, speaking on, “The True Cost of Higher Education.”

With financial support from Frontier Communications, 91���� Marion physics professor, Dr. Chris Orban has secured a spot for a Marion County high school student to join him at the STEM-focused "Summer Institute" program organized by the Ohio Supercomputer Center. The Summer Institute is a highly-competitive, two-week residential camp held June 14 -26 on the 91���� Columbus campus. Students will work on projects led by Prof. Orban and other researchers at OSU, as well as receiving tours of a number of different research labs on campus.

91���� Marion senior biology major, Travis Blanton, was awarded first place in the Mathematical & Physical Sciences sub section at 91����’s 2015 Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, held Wednesday, March 25th, 12-3 p.m., in the Recreation and Physical Activities Building at 91���� in Columbus.

Dr. Michael V. Drake, 15th president of 91����, will make his first official visit to 91���� at Marion and the Marion community on Tuesday, March 24th.

The 19-year-old 91���� University-Marion freshman engineering student is part of the Baja Buckeye team that designs and builds a new off-road buggy at 91����'s Center for Automotive Research every year. 91����'s Baja team competes against other colleges from around the world in competitions sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

91���� Marion Assistant Professor of Physics, Chris Orban, Ph.D. contributed to a highly-awaited scientific study on stellar plasmas entitled “A higher-than-predicted measurement of iron opacity at solar interior temperatures” that was recently published in the journal Nature.
