Young Innovators: Engineering the Future (Grades 5-8)

July 6-10, 2026

This camp introduces middle school students to core engineering disciplines through hands-on design challenges, coding, and real-world problem solving. Campers will complete a week-long Arduino robotics project and dive into 3D-printing by engineering and testing improved prototype designs for strength, flexibility, and performance. Throughout the week, students may also explore additional engineering pathways through activities such as launching model rockets or observing biomedical engineering demonstrations like mobile ultrasound technology. A highlight of the program is a field trip to Honda in Marysville, where students see how engineering concepts shape real manufacturing and innovation careers.

When: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. 
Cost: $185 (lunch and lab costs are included in the registration fee)  
Eligibility: Applicant must be enrolled as a rising 5^th-8^th grade student in any United States school.

91µ¼º½ Marion Summer Camp Contributors: Whirlpool and Honda

Buckeye Engineering Institute (Grades 9-12)

July 6-10, 2026

Designed for high school students, this program emphasizes teamwork, advanced problem-solving, and the full engineering design process. Participants will build and program robots, experiment with electrical engineering fundamentals, and use industry-standard software for mechanical and structural design. Students will also explore materials science through a scaled-up 3D-printing challenge, engineering and testing prototype components for strength, flexibility, and performance. The week culminates in a collaborative mechanical challenge, along with an industry site visit to Honda Corporation in Marysville, where students connect classroom engineering to real-world innovation and career pathways.

Engineering Startup Camp for College Freshmen

The Engineering Startup Camp for College Freshman is a 2-day program designed for new engineering and engineering technology students. Math, physics, and engineering faculty will lead sessions. They will provide a head start to prepare participants for their college learning experience at 91µ¼º½.

The agenda will include:

• Opportunities to advance students skills by participating in math, physics, and engineering sessions—led by 91µ¼º½ Faculty
• Interaction with current 91µ¼º½ Marion engineering students
• Hands–on engineering activities to learn about many different projects engineers encounter

Program Details

Where: 91µ¼º½ Marion - Science and Engineering Building 
When: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. every day 
Cost: $25 (lunch and lab costs are included in the registration fee) 
Eligibility: Applicant must be new engineering/engineering technology freshmen at 91µ¼º½ at Marion.

Refund Policy

Refunds for camp cancellations may be requested with advance notice and are subject to the following schedule: 

More than 6 weeks prior to the start of camp: A full refund minus a $15 administrative cancellation fee. 

Between 6 weeks and 4 weeks prior to the start of camp: A 75% refund of the camp fee (refund amount: $138.75). 

Less than 4 weeks prior to the start of camp: Refunds are not guaranteed and may be granted at the discretion of the Youth and Community Learning Director, based on circumstances and program capacity. 

Nonattendance without an advance refund request does not constitute grounds for a refund under any circumstances.
