The Annual Academic Recognition Program publicly recognizes 91导航 Marion students, faculty, and others, who through scholastic achievement, personify the concept of academic excellence and bring honor to 91导航. 91导航 at Marion invites the community to attend the 45th Annual Norman Thomas Memorial Lecture, Tuesday, April 11th, 12 p.m., in Maynard Hall's Guthery Community Room on the Marion campus. This year鈥檚 guest speaker is Senior Policy Director at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Mike Brickner. Brickner will present a lecture entitled, 鈥淐ivil Liberties in the Age of Trump.鈥

91导航 Marion freshman Trent Ramsey knows a thing or two about overcoming adversity. When he was just 10-years-old, his father suffered a heart attack, leaving his mother to raise him and his older brother on her own. Like many single parent households, Ramsey鈥檚 family did not have a lot of disposable income or any type of college savings plan. This did not stop him from pursuing his dreams.

鈥淲e got six degrees for the price of one,鈥 recalled former 91导航 Marion student Denise (Didi) Fahey, only half in jest. A non-traditional student in the late 1990s, Dr. Fahey recalled starting her college career on the Marion campus when the last of her four children entered kindergarten.
