The Annual Academic Recognition Program publicly recognizes 91���� Marion students, faculty, and others, who through scholastic achievement, personify the concept of academic excellence and bring honor to 91����. Special thanks go to the staff, faculty, students, and members of the community who served on various selection committees and to those who assisted in the planning of this program. 91���� Marion Citizens’ Advisory Council initiated this program in 1972. The continued support of this program by 91���� Marion Board of Trustees is appreciated.

The Academy of Eating Disorders recently named 91���� Marion Professor of Psychology, Dr. Tracy Tylka an academy fellow.

91���� at Marion invites the community to attend the 45th Annual Norman Thomas Memorial Lecture, Tuesday, April 11th, 12 p.m., in Maynard Hall's Guthery Community Room on the Marion campus. This year’s guest speaker is Senior Policy Director at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Mike Brickner. Brickner will present a lecture entitled, “Civil Liberties in the Age of Trump.”

91���� Marion Assistant Professor of Physics, Dr. Chris Orban has been selected for a second straight year as an Air Force Summer Faculty Fellow.

The United Way of Marion County awarded 91���� at Marion’s Pay It Forward Program with its Community Partner Award at the organization’s Annual Meeting and Celebration, held Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

91���� Marion freshman Trent Ramsey knows a thing or two about overcoming adversity. When he was just 10-years-old, his father suffered a heart attack, leaving his mother to raise him and his older brother on her own. Like many single parent households, Ramsey’s family did not have a lot of disposable income or any type of college savings plan. This did not stop him from pursuing his dreams.

“We got six degrees for the price of one,” recalled former 91���� Marion student Denise (Didi) Fahey, only half in jest. A non-traditional student in the late 1990s, Dr. Fahey recalled starting her college career on the Marion campus when the last of her four children entered kindergarten.

91���� Marion junior English major Morgan Dewitt was one of 30 students selected from throughout the university to be part of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP) summer term 2017.

91���� Marion education major Hannah Fuller shares her pride in being a Buckeye. She equates Buckeye pride to her educational accomplishments and the opportunity 91���� has provided her on the Marion campus.
