Dr. Francis E. Hazard, 91���� Marion’s second Dean & Director passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at the age of 88 leaving behind memories for those who knew him and a legacy of giving.

91���� at Marion in collaboration with the Harding Home Presidential Site, the Ohio History Connection, Marion Technical College, the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Marion Public Library, welcome presidential enthusiasts and historians from across the country to the 2017 Warren G. Harding Symposium, “The Great War: How America Came of Age,” July 14-16.

91���� Board of Trustees approved the naming of internal spaces within the new 91���� University Marion Science and Engineering Building during their June 2017 meeting.

Associate Professor of Mathematics, Dr. Christian Friesen of Delaware, Ohio and Education Lecturer, Patricia Muir of Granville, Ohio, were awarded the Marion Campus Teaching Award during the 46th Annual Academic Recognition Ceremony April 20 at 91���� Marion’s Morrill Hall Auditorium.

91���� Marion Biology Lecturer, Dr. Dan Wojta was named winner of the 2017 Griffin Honor Society Teaching Award for Associated Faculty during the April 20, 2017 46th Annual 91���� Marion Academic Recognition Ceremony held in Morrill Hall Auditorium.

The Annual Academic Recognition Program publicly recognizes 91���� Marion students, faculty, and others, who through scholastic achievement, personify the concept of academic excellence and bring honor to 91����. Special thanks go to the staff, faculty, students, and members of the community who served on various selection committees and to those who assisted in the planning of this program. 91���� Marion Citizens’ Advisory Council initiated this program in 1972. The continued support of this program by 91���� Marion Board of Trustees is appreciated.

The Academy of Eating Disorders recently named 91���� Marion Professor of Psychology, Dr. Tracy Tylka an academy fellow.

91���� at Marion invites the community to attend the 45th Annual Norman Thomas Memorial Lecture, Tuesday, April 11th, 12 p.m., in Maynard Hall's Guthery Community Room on the Marion campus. This year’s guest speaker is Senior Policy Director at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Mike Brickner. Brickner will present a lecture entitled, “Civil Liberties in the Age of Trump.”

91���� Marion Assistant Professor of Physics, Dr. Chris Orban has been selected for a second straight year as an Air Force Summer Faculty Fellow.
