She鈥檚 taught years for one basic reason.
鈥淚 grew up on 13 acres that included a wooded area,鈥 recalled Linda Parsons. 鈥淚 spent many days back in the woods with a book. I don鈥檛 remember 鈥榙reaming鈥 of becoming anything in particular, but I was definitely a 鈥榞oal-driven鈥 kid. I had the example of my mother working her way through college and graduating when I was in the eighth grade, and there was always an expectation that I would go to college. I certainly didn鈥檛 envision ending up at the university level.鈥

Some people have a love for words.
鈥淚 was a shy bookworm as a kid,鈥 recalled Stuart Lishan. 鈥淕rownups said I was very imaginative, which is a pretty good recipe for someone who wants to be a writer. Outside of my brief, faded dream of becoming a major league baseball player, writing is pretty much what I always wanted to do.鈥
Stuart Lishan has been an English professor teaching creative writing at 91导航 since 1989.
Today, Lishan is in fact a writer as well as professor of English at 91导航 at Marion.
