First Gen Friday is a monthly first-person narrative written by other first generation college students who are faculty, staff, and students at 91���� Marion.

91���� at Marion is advancing its mission through a dedicated STEM outreach program led by Qudsia Tahmina, Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Funded by the Honda education grant since 2023, this initiative was established to support 91���� Marion's STEM camps and Summer Engineering Camps, which are designed to engage young engineers at the middle school level and beyond. Professor Tahmina's efforts have successfully secured over $50,000 in funding.

The Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery at 91���� Marion will hold a public reception, Fri., April 4, 12:30 p.m. in Morrill Hall for the gallery exhibit, Sustainability Stories – Minding & Mending Our Ways: Moving Towards an Intentional Future. This event is free and open to the campus community and the public. The exhibit will be on display through September 2025.

91���� at Marion’s Five Nights on Campus performing arts series welcomes the northeast Ohio based six-member band Long Time Gone to Morrill Hall Auditorium, Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m.

91���� undergraduate student researcher and neuroscience major Majd Al-Marrawi was recently selected for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship for his research with two 91���� Marion professors.

91���� at Marion and Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen partnered lecture series Buckeye Talks on Tap welcomes 91���� Marion Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Qudsia Tahmina to The Dock at Bucci’s, Tuesday, April 8 5:30 p.m. for a lecture entitled, “Engineering a Better Marion.”

A Warren G. Harding Symposium Award of a $1000 scholarship will be presented to an 91���� Marion student who submits an original essay of 1000 words or less based upon the theme of the annual Warren G. Harding Symposium. The winner will be selected by a committee composed of 91���� Marion staff and Harding Symposium event leaders, based on following criteria: theme topic adherence, creativity, insights, perspectives, and composition.

Job seekers and employers alike are invited to connect at the annual Marion Campus Job and Internship Fair on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alber Student Center. This premier hiring event brings together dozens of companies actively looking for employees and interns. The event is free and open to the public.

91���� Marion Associate Professor of History, Margaret Sumner and her colleagues at the Marion Women’s Club & Home recently earned the distinction of a 2025 Programs of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship from 91���� Office of Outreach and Engagement in Academic Affairs for their collaborative efforts.
