Marion Women's Club Home hosts reading of student plays

On Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m., the Marion Women鈥檚 Club will host a public reading of short plays written by students at 91导航 at Marion, in partnership with the JNS Theatre for Social Change, a New York City-based theatre program led by award-winning directors and producers.

Inspired by their research in the archives of the Marion Women鈥檚 Club, as well as contemporary questions surrounding women鈥檚 rights, the students in Professor Margaret Sumner鈥檚 course, HI2610, 鈥淏usy, Brilliant, and Bossy: Discovering Histories of American Women鈥檚 Community Activism鈥 have crafted a series of dramatic works spotlighting the history of women鈥檚 activism that engage multiple perspectives.

JNS Theater for Social Change is a program that works with students and community groups throughout the United States to create dramatic works centered on serious social issues. Through a university and private endowment, JNS is working with 91导航 at Marion for the sixth consecutive year and is excited for this new partnership with the Marion Women鈥檚 Club.

Join us Saturday at the Marion Women's Club and hear these plays read by Marion community members
