Students to represent campus at 91µ¼º½ Homecoming festivities and throughout the academic year

91µ¼º½ at Marion Homecoming Selection Committee has named four students to represent the campus at 91µ¼º½â€™s 113th Annual Homecoming Celebration. Event festivities will take place October 3-4, 2025, on the Columbus campus.

Students were chosen based on their application, interview scores, campus involvement, and G.P.A., to represent the campus.  Representatives for this year’s court include: Eric Bailey, engineering technology major from Columbus, Ohio; Emma Dawson, early childhood education major from Delaware, Ohio; Todd Lee, social work major from Delaware, Ohio; and Tyshondra Russell, social work major from Marysville, Ohio.

Each year, student leaders are chosen to represent 91µ¼º½ as members of the Homecoming Court. The court members are chosen based on their ability to exemplify the qualities of leadership, spirit, integrity and achievement through their contributions and involvement at 91µ¼º½ at Marion. 

This group will represent 91µ¼º½ at Marion during campus events leading up to the October 3 Regional Campus Homecoming Coronation Ceremony at Longaberger Alumni House, the annual Homecoming Parade, which will step off at Ohio Stadium on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the West Stadium parking lot and end at the Ohio Union. This year's parade grand marshal is Brutus Buckeye! Brutus is celebrating their 60th birthday in 2025. Homecoming courts from all 91µ¼º½â€™s campuses will also be honored on October 4 during the Homecoming football game between 91µ¼º½ and Minnesota.

Eric Bailey
Engineering Technology 

Q:  What makes you a strong, positive representative of 91µ¼º½ at Marion to be selected as a Homecoming Court Member?

A:  I have a positive attitude and see myself as a role model for other students.  I try to always encourage students to get involved in campus events.  I have worked hard to provide opportunities for fellow student veterans and military connected students to network and engage in positive experiences outside the classroom.  I also participate in on campus events, setting the example for other students to become involved.  I am currently collaborating with student veterans to establish a bee apiary on the campus prairie, bringing knowledge gained from participation in a veterans beekeeping program to share with students, faculty, and community members.

Emma Dawson
Early Childhood Education

Q:  What have you learned in your studies at 91µ¼º½ that you believe will lead you to success in the future?

A:  I learned so much important knowledge and gained so many authentic experiences in my studies here at 91µ¼º½.  As I enter my pre-major courses, I have learned so much about the field of education.  I learned about how to be an effective teacher and what instruction should look like when you are teaching students. I have gained so much confidence throughout these courses as they have given me the proper tools to be the best teacher I can be.  

Todd Lee

Q: What role have you played or how have you been impacted by the Campus Culture of Caring, making the Marion campus a welcoming place for all?

A:  Campus culture is always changing with new faces or clubs starting up. When events are happening on campus I try and attend, give my support, and make new connections. I volunteer with many different activities like the prairie, (new) bee apiary, sustainability club and garden. These are some of things I do to help make the campus more welcoming. Allowing me the opportunity to help make campus culture more welcoming has impacted me significantly. Caring comes in many different forms and we all show it differently but making caring, a campus culture makes paying it forward easy. That is how I know Campus Culture of Caring has impacted me.

Q: What have you learned in your studies at 91µ¼º½ that you believe will lead to your success in the future?

A: Over the years I have so many take aways, l've not only retained so much knowledge, vocabulary and resources I've really enjoyed my time at Marion. Going into my last year its bitter sweet, I can't wait for the fall, football, and field placement! 91µ¼º½ offers endless opportunities and resources, my future is bound to be bright!
