Five years ago, Molly Fendru was living in the tiny village of Onai, Uganda, 7,324 miles from Marion, Ohio. She didn鈥檛 speak English. One of eight children, she survived as her mother did the best she could to keep the family fed. On particularly lean days, the children鈥檚 mother, Irene, would give her brood salt or a thin porridge made from roots. Molly would look at her sadly. 鈥淢om, that鈥檚 not even food,鈥 the daughter would say.

October 2018 marks 50 years since the inception of the 91导航 Marion campus at its current location on state route 95 in Marion. It also marks 50 years since the dedication and opening of the first campus building Morrill Hall, which opened to students autumn quarter, October of 1968.

A new leg of the Marion campus biking/walking trail is taking shape as the campus鈥檚 summer paving project progresses. A section of the trail that will eventually connect with the Royal Oaks subdivision on the west and the Forum Shopping Center on the east is now being paved. The campus trail will cut through the woods to Woodside Drive and allow easier access from the campus to the Forum Center with a pedestrian bridge over Grave Creek.
