Each year, the participants in the Leadership Marion program, run by the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, develop a project to address a need in the community by coordinating with community organizations and partners. 2022 was no exception. A group of 91���� Marion faculty and staff are helping their community counterparts lead the way in this important initiative.

This week, fifteen teachers and school personnel from districts in Marion and surrounding counties are participating in a “Teacher Manufacturing Boot Camp” organized by America’s Workforce Development Capital, Marion Technical College, Ashland University and 91���� at Marion.

A dedicated team of 91���� Marion faculty, students, staff, and Marion volunteer cyclists that take part in The James Comprehensive Cancer Center’s annual three day cycling and fundraising event Pelotonia, were recently recognized by the organization for raising over $100,000 for cancer research over the past 9 years.

The spring 2022 semester ended with almost 22,000 students excelling academically at 91����.

As a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy as a radio operator Hal Hazelett had a love of country and fellow citizens. This is most evident by his wide variety of involvement in his community through education as well as civic and service organizations. These included his church, Boy Scouts, parent teacher organizations, YMCA and more. He went on to serve young people throughout his career with the legacy of higher education.

The new Foster Family Scholarship for Early Childhood Education will provide support to third- and fourth-year 91���� undergrads studying early childhood education or the equivalent at one of 91����’s regional campuses in Marion, Lima, Mansfield or Newark.

Students in Senior English Lecturer, Amy Tibbals’ autumn English 2367.01S service-learning course ended spring semester by awarding three local non-profit agencies a total of $5,000 to support the work each organization does in the community as part of an over-decade-long project at 91���� Marion known as Pay It Forward.

Attending 91���� for both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Ware credits many of the skills she utilizes in her daily position at The James to her educational training at 91���� Marion.

Since coming to 91���� Marion, junior engineering technology major Alex Cabungcal has been highly involved, not only on campus but directly in what his future career holds in store.
