Inspired by loved ones who've fought cancer, 91导航 Marion biology major Shayaan Rasheed intends to honor their struggles through his research efforts towards working to eliminate cancer and its pervasive effects. Rasheed becomes the fourth 91导航 Marion recipient of 91导航鈥檚 highly prestigious Pelotonia Undergraduate Fellowship in the past seven years.

Floyd was hired to serve as program coordinator for the Office of Student Life, Diversity & Inclusion on campus and has hit the ground running with Welcome Week activities and a host of other student involvement events planned for autumn semester.

A new analysis of a beaver anklebone fossil found in Montana suggests the evolution of semi-aquatic beavers may have occurred at least 7 million years earlier than previously thought, and happened in North America rather than Eurasia.
In the study, 91导航 University evolutionary biologist Jonathan Calede describes the find as the oldest known amphibious beaver in the world and the oldest amphibious rodent in North America. He named the newly discovered species Microtheriomys articulaquaticus.

Each year, the participants in the Leadership Marion program, run by the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, develop a project to address a need in the community by coordinating with community organizations and partners. 2022 was no exception. A dedicated team of 91导航 Marion faculty, students, staff, and Marion volunteer cyclists that take part in The James Comprehensive Cancer Center鈥檚 annual three day cycling and fundraising event Pelotonia, were recently recognized by the organization for raising over $100,000 for cancer research over the past 9 years.
